Field Recording Database
I'm currently programming a MySQL database application for the purposes of archiving audio field recordings. The application stores information about the sound file, the recording location, and environmental conditions. Furthermore, it stores information about the recorded subject under categories such as: soundscape, animal, music. Every entered value of the database can be searched and retrieved. The database entries can be printed as HTML, PDF, plain text files, and stored onto the sound file's RIFF header as an iXML chunk. The inital design and protoype has been concluded. The alpha version of the database interface is scheduled to be available to a small group of recordist in the spring of 2011. HMSG Website
The Hudson Mohawk Sound Gate Website is getting entirely redesigned with an interactive Flash based interface. This will be the world's first interactive historical sound map. In addition another remix of the sonic composition will debut alongside the site. The remix adds a year's worth of newly collected material including auralizations from excerpts of over 50 historical documents spanning 250+ years from local archives. This update will be premiered late 2011
